Why do I need a dual zone wine fridge?
There are many reasons you may want to choose a dual zone wine chiller in the UK from your household being split down the middle by red/white preference to your own desire to need a two temperature wine fridge to use for partial service and partial long term wine storage. All dual zone fridges offer two independent temperature zones where one zone can be kept at a different temperature to the other but not all our built for both purposes with some more suitable for long term maturation of wine over others.
Dual zone wine cabinet for ageing?
If you're looking for a 600mm wide dual zone wine cabinet for the maturation of a range of fine wines then you'll need a fridge with a carbon filter as well as the dual temperature zones. Carbon filters can be found in all the Swisscave dual zone coolers as well as many of the larger Dunavox dual zones. Use the filters on this page to select carbon filter if you need this wine fridge to offer a section for wine maturation.
Two temperature zone wine fridge for service?
If you want your two zones for the service of red and white wines at the ideal temperature then you'll need to ensure that your choice of wine cooler allows for a wide ranging difference between the bottom and top sections of the wine fridge. Some of our wine coolers offer very low temperatures for white and Champagne to be served chilled (2°C) but if you also need the reds at room temperature be sure that this is offered as some dual zones can not maintain a very wide temperature difference between two sections. Things to look out for in a dual zone wine fridge include;
- Can the wine cooler be used for long term ageing, does it come with a carbon filter?
- How wide ranging are the two temperature zones and does this suit your storage or service needs?
- Dual zones can be slightly noisier and less energy efficient than single zones because they maintain two temperatures be sure to check the decibels and energy consumption on the product tables.
- Bottle capacity - many wine coolers come in both a dual zone and single zone option, a dual zone is often the more expensive and holds less bottles to its single zone counterpart, if you don't need the dual zone functionality it may not be the right option for your storage needs.
- Security - does your dual zone wine fridge come with a physical lock and temperature alarms?
Undercounter or built in dual zone wine cooler?
